Top 10 Cause of Death

As shown in the picture, although over the last decade, there has been a shift in the rankings of what causes the most deaths amongst communicable disease, non-communicable disease, and injuries the top 10 has remained the same for both countries. Communicable disease is undoubtedly still a major challenge for low and middle-income countries such as Haiti. As for noncommunicable diseases, they still continue to be the leading cause of death worldwide ("WHO", 2020).  In fact,  as of 2019, both countries have heart disease as their number one cause of death. Heart disease has remained the leading cause of death at the global level for the last 20 years ("WHO", 2020). However, it is now killing more people than ever before. Also, it is important to notice that while the top leading causes of death in the US are full of noncommunicable diseases, Haiti continuously suffer from HIV/AIDS, lower respiratory infections, and diarrheal disease, a communicable disease, which was ranked first about ten years ago, and diarrheal diseases that can be prevented ("Haiti", 2019).
